Livestock Framing is showcasing the work of popular photographers at its Hook & Nail gallery show on Thursday, November 19. The event, which lasts from 6 to 9 p.m., is a fundraiser for local non-profit p:ear, and offers a one-night-only opportunity to see work by some of the most widely followed local Instagram photographers in a gallery setting.
More than 20 photographs from local photographers like Tally Gunstone and Roby Babcock will be auctioned off to benefit p:ear, which will feature two of its own photographers as part of the event. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the organization’s art, education and recreation therapy programs serving Portland’s homeless and transitional youth.
“This is a rare opportunity to see the photography of artists who have built their fan bases predominantly online in a true gallery setting,” said Livestock Framing founder Mike Malone. “As fans of these social artists, we’re excited to create this real-world connection to their work in the spirit of supporting an organization like p:ear.”
Livestock Framing, an online photo printing and framing company, will custom-frame each photo for the event. The full list of featured artists include: Jessica Selig, Roby Babcock, Nick Greener, Alex Milan Tracy, Robby Edwardsen, Greg Maguire, Kristina Plummer, Tally Gunstone and Ashley Sophia Clark and the works of two p:ear photographers.
“This event presents us with a wonderful opportunity to build a collaborative relationship with an entirely new audience, said Pippa Arend, Development Director at p:ear. “This is also an exciting experience for our participants, who might not otherwise be able to showcase their unique photographs in a traditional gallery setting.”
The event is free and open to the public with Buoy Beer featured on tap and music provided by two local DJ’s.
